A national award established in 1988 to recognise outstanding corporate efforts to improve quality and productivity. The Baldridge Award Guidelines are sometimes used as a checklist for a Total Quality Plan.
Benchmarking
A technique that involves comparing processes to excellent examples of similar processes in other organisations.
Brainstorming
A tool used to encourage creative thinking and new ideas. A group formulates and records as many ideas as possible concerning a certain subject, regardless of the content of the ideas. No discussion, evaluation, or criticism of ideas is allowed until the brainstorming session is complete.
